Biography
Professor Isla Mackenzie MBChB (Honours), PhD, PGCertMedEd, FRCP Edin, FBPharmacolS, FBIHS is Associate Dean (Research) for the School of Medicine, University of Dundee. In this role, she contributes to the leadership of the School and continues to develop an environment that promotes and supports research excellence in terms of enterprise, impact and engagement.
Isla Mackenzie is Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Honorary Consultant Physician at the University of Dundee and Ninewells Hospital, Dundee. Research interests include cardiovascular disease, decentralised clinical trials, clinical pharmacology and pharmacoepidemiology. Clinical interests include cardiovascular risk, hypertension and adrenal disorders including phaeochromocytoma.
Research
Her research focuses on improving cardiovascular outcomes and drug safety using a combination of large multicentre randomised clinical trials and pharmacoepidemiological approaches to answer important clinical research questions. I have particular expertise in decentralised clinical trials and currently hold academic work package lead roles in two major European IMI projects..
